Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes is described as Classic Soul (right on the link you give.) (When I first saw Blue Notes it made me think of Neil Young's 1980s work-- fun stuff!) At any rate, you're wrong-- the greatest artist is probably Miles Davis or John Coltrane. I've been into punk since the 80s, and never heard of your band there. The best bands are The Clash, Sex Pistols, Dead Kennedys, Ramones.. like that. I'm a big fan of classic Country-- while Carter Family are certainly oldschool, most wouldn't say "best". Personally, I give that to Waylon Jennings. Judas Priest is far better than Iron Maiden, but getting to the excellent & classic roots, there's no question: Black Sabbath is peerless. As for straight Rock, I'll avoid getting into the dozen-plus I'd pick. Rolling Stones are definitely up there. Pop really depends on the era. MJ is the most nauseating artist I can imagine from this genre, and the 80s weren't the best for pop, either. Plus, he was a child molester. But with LvB and Bob Marley, you're SPOT ON! (Though technically you ought add "and the Wailers".. Peter Tosh was no slouch, nor the i-Threes and Family Man!)
PEACE! (Why did I type all this? I type 70wpm+ -- no worries. I'm for hire. #hireme)
