Does anyone know how to put images into the mind maps?
I haven't yet been able to find the tool.
Thanks

Select a node. Then have a look at the edit menu to the left (number 4 in the image from our guide: http://mind42.com/guide/editor/ui). The 4th icon from top is the image icon. For now Mind42 only supports the insertion of images that are somewhere in the web, and not on your hard drive.
One possibility to use own images is to use services like dropbox, where you can upload the images. But we also plan to come up with a better solution for the future.

I would strongly add support for adding images from one's hard drive. Mindmapping is a visual tool and image support is very important.

Thanks for the suggested work arounds however

We know that would be nice, but haven't had the chance to implement this yet. The way it's now just was the simplest implementation. Adding the possibility to upload images from the users hard drives would require us to permanently store the file on our servers, which requires storage, and maintenance and so on - so it's much harder to do that what we do now.

We don't know if we'll ever implement this. But we are thinking about integrating services like Dropbox or Google Drive, which would make it much easier.

Could you provide directions on how to add a web image to a mind map? This is a great tool, but for some of my students I really need images to support the process.

They easiest way to add images is of course to insert some that are already in the web. So for example if you find an image in Wikipedia that you want to use, simply right click the image and choose "Copy Image Address"/"Copy Image Url" or similar (depends on the used browser). You can then insert the image in the Mind42 image field.

Although I have read the posts with the instructions of how to add an image, it's still unable for me to add images to my mind maps. I have uploaded images on the Drive of Google and set some images as shared on the web (i.e. https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_DNIPkUnrVfNlJ3LWtzTnY5UHc/edit?usp=sharing) but when I add the image there is an error message ("There was an error loading the image"). What am I doing wrong?
Thank you in advance!

The problem with the link of your example is, that it doesn't point to an image, but to a website (the google drive page) that shows an image. This doesn't work with Mind42 (and as said earlier, this would require google drive integration from our side to easily allow this).

I think there's no way to really integrate images from Google Drive at the moment. The image URL for your example would be https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/HWAgVoHNukZgkbdx3RIkGG3iPQqdJ37_9ECWrGVrsWp2aBATEtO5xxgBcE1jWn3K7EiQRkydpvc but this is hard to find out, and probably not reliable.

That's why I usually recommend using Dropbox for providing own images online. The Dropbox has a public folder and you get real URLs for the files you put in there instead of websites that show the file (i.e. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/84612/avatar_code.png).
