Introducing ad-free accounts (+ giveaway)

Dec. 17th 2012 | by Stefan Schuster

Starting today, it's possible to remove all ads from an account against a small payment. Users who value the absence of ads now have the chance to enjoy the most out of Mind42. Read on for the details.

When we started the new Mind42 in October, we decided to focus on advertising as a business model for Mind42. (With this step, we ended the up-until-then unsuccessful search for a business model.) We are now committed to offer Mind42 as a free tool (with ads), while in the past we were always searching for ways to charge a small amount of money for extra features. While this works for most users, we were surprised by the amount of people who would actually be willing to pay to use Mind42 without the ads. Finally, this is now possible. It might took us a little bit longer than some users expected, but directly after the release we concentrated on making the new Mind42 run as smoothly as the old version. After we reached that goal, we released HTTPS login (see last post) and now, the removal of ads is also possible.

To properly celebrate the introduction of this feature, we are giving away 42 ad-free accounts. All you have to do is to like us on Facebook, or follow us on Twitter. At the end of January we'll draw the 42 lucky winners from all the likes and followers there. If you already liked or followed us in the past - no problem, we'll include all existing likes and followers as well.

Have a nice holiday season!

Update Jan. 10th: Now also the blog is ad-free for users who purchased an ad-free account upgrade.
